Maybe you could write the book and go from rags to riches.

Beautiful outfits you can make from square pieces of cloth. Squares can easily be turned into charming clothing with just a few simple techniques.

Any woman who can sew can write this book. Make some nice photographs and you might even be able to sell it to millions. Good luck!

This is a great way to get children interested in sewing simple outfits that are guaranteed to fit. Great for a teacher to use, or a mother to entertain her children on a rainy day. This could be the only way a mother can send her kids to school with new clothes during a recession.

For instance a poncho is just a square of wool with a hole on the diagonal. An interfacing is easy to make by copying the curve of the hole and turning the fabric in. Any experienced seamtress knows how to do this. It is a whole lot cheaper than a coat and can be just as warm.

I bought a really nice wool jacket made in Mexico several years ago that was a square with simple squares for sleeves made out of an Indian blanket. One size fits all and it looked great on me and I have worn it for years.

My Mother used to make bathing suits for me when I was little out of cotton handkerchiefs and safety pins sort of like a diaper and a halter top held up with a twisted handkerchief around the neck and pined to the halter. Ribbons could have been used, but the simplicity of the twisted fabric was just great!

Mother also made a pleated skirt by folding together repeated sections of plaid fabric until it fit around me. Then she added a waist band which covered the edges and with a length extra that overlapped which she fastened with a safety pin and it was finished. Hooks are now available to fasten waist bands so you don't have to sew a button hole or risk a safety pin. I wore a sweater over the safety pin and no one ever knew. She even made another matching skirt for herself so we were a Mother-Daughter combo! I loved it and I thought my Mother was a genius.

You can also make a gathered skirt or even a tight skirt with a square of fabric sewed up the side and turned under on top and rubber or a string threaded through it and tied to fit. You can hem it any length or just pull out the threads for a fringe around the bottom. Cover the bulky gathered top with a sweater.

You can lay a flat double sheet (or fabric sewn together flat) on the floor, put a pencil in the middle tied to a length of string the length you want your cheer leader style skirt. Add several inches to the string so you can attach chaulk to the other end of the string and inches for the circle in the middle and for the hem. Mark the large circle with chaulk. Cut a circle in the middle the size of the waist and a slit to get the skirt on. Hem the large circle with bias tape and put a waist band at the waist and add an interfacing to the slit to finish the edges.

For a simple sleeveless blouse you can wear under anything, fold a strip of fabric like a pillow case. Measure to fit your model. Make a hole for the neck and an opening in the front or back as desired. Copy curve of neck opening onto facing fabric and put right sides together and sew around edges of opening and turn in the interfacing and iron flat. You can add a button to front or back opening and a loop of braided string to fasten to the button. Sew sides together like with a pillow case leaving openings for the arms. Hem the base of the blouse.

Study a peasant skirt, which has several layers of gathered straight strips, each longer than the next, to make another easy style skirt. They are very popular now and are fun to make and they don't use much fabric. Lace can be added to these if desired.

Hats are easy to make. Just cut two arch shapes or a church window shape and sew together. Fold a cuff and hem edge or gather edge with rubber. Add a pompom to top if desired.

Simple outfits can be made to look expensive with nice accessories and sweaters you can find in a thrift store. If you can find some fabulous wool looks, leathery look fabrics and some slinky fabrics, you can create a fabulous wardrobe for very little money.

I'm not illustrating this because I just want to give you ideas. You write what you want and have fun with it. Pattern companies will see more and more budding seamstresses when they read your book and be glad. Just keep it as simple as possible for the greater readership. Remember, some poor people don't have a sewing machine.

Open a special day spa for wrinkle reduction without surgery.

Face lift without the pain may be an option with this simple knowledge. When a surgeon does a face lift they separate the skin from the underlying tissue. Often it is the tissue under the skin that has become creased from smiles and frowns. Forget the surgery. Vigorous massaging of the skin might be able to take away those creases and diminish wrinkles.

Connective tissue has an element of sulfur in the protein which probably works by adding a drying element to one part of the chain of DNA which winds it like a spring. If you just put a sulfur preparation on your skin it will dry it out, but foods that contain sulfur (which is yellow), might actually improve skin's flexibility. Topical preparations containing absorbable sulfur proteins are not readily available today. Research needs to be done.

If you are wealthy enough to do clinical trials on a new skin preparations, this could make you even more wealthy. If you are not wealthy, massaging wrinkles with already researched skin creams is free to you with just the cost of the cream and you can open a clinic and hire massage therapists and train them in facial massage of wrinkles using preparations that are already out there. Use your imagination. If it works people will flock to you if you do it right.

Hoping you profit from my ideas.

I have a special talent. I observe and collect data from many different disciplines and create solutions for problems that others, because of their specializations, don't seem to see. I am retired and am not interested in carrying out experiments or building objects, but I am willing for my fellow Americans to profit from my ideas. I have had many ideas that have lead to others making inventions that are very lucrative for them, and I have never profited personally from my creativity. So, now I am selling my ideas. I will list the solutions to problems, the innovative inventions I have drawn up, the cure of diseases that need researched and if you want to subscribe to that blog, just let me know at scc_hot@yahoo.com. Satisfaction is guaranteed.

Here are a few samples of ideas that I have formulated to solve everyday problems, cure diseases and improve the implements used in the medical profession. I will not restrict my inventions to just the medical field.

SAMPLE OF NEW ANTIBIOTICS, YET TO BE INVENTED

If you have ever created a pomander ball you know this trick. It is an orange that you insert whole cloves into covering the orange completely and let the orange dry out to create a delicious room perfume. I made one for Christmas one year and mine has stayed fresh for decades. This is my Christmas gift for you. Set a pomander ball next to a plain orange and watch the plain orange mold and rot away while the pomander ball stays fresh for years. There are very few medications for mold infections and these medications can often be toxic. I have done no research on the effect of cloves, but it should be researched. One warning: the preservative effect that the pomander ball displays is partly due to the wicking effect of the bud of the cloves which sucks out the juice and oils of the orange with a desiccant effect, so just research on clove oil alone may not be enough.

CURE FOR SARS

Microscopically, you can clearly see the SARS virus has a spiky corona. Break off that corona and flush with fluids, should take care of that. When I came up with that solution, the SARS virus epidemic ended abruptly. These viruses do not effect just one population group but all peoples, so a diligent attitude of disease prevention and discovering quick cures is important to cultivate! Birth control is the best way to reduce populations.

Remember: you can even bottle lemon juice and sell it as a cure; if it works, people will buy! People buy those tire lookalikes as swings!

ANTIBIOTIC EFFECTS OF TABLE SALT AND SMOKE

Cured ham ergo salt curing will kill any disease that would destroy a ham. Is research being done, or is that too simple! Please, research on animals first!

CURE FOR RED CRACKING SKIN

Please. I am not a doctor and I cannot prescribe or diagnose any condition, but I can tell you that there is a reason bakers recommend you cover your rising yeast bread with cloth. Yeast, which thrives on sugars and oils, cannot survive for long without air. If you covered your bread with plastic wrap it would kill the yeast. Be kind to the little fellows and give them an analgesic first because they struggle for a couple of minutes then give up. Never fear washing them away because it is oil they thrive on.

LABOR SAVING DEVISE FOR PAINTERS

If you have ever watched professional painters, you know that they are particularly proud of their ability to paint a straight line where the wall hits the ceiling. If you have ever tried this with a angled brush, you will discover this is not as difficult as it looks. But it involves climbing a ladder to reach the ceiling and can slow the process of painting down considerably. With my labor saving devise you don't have to climb a ladder at all and the worst part of the job is done well and is over with in no time! Invent a devise that guarantees a straight line while you stand on the floor with a long pole. You cannot be sure your ceiling is always consistent because of popcorn ceilings, so the only surface you can rely on is the grove where the wall meets the ceiling.
Use a narrow wheel to steady your devise in the grove
attached to a paint sprayer the size of an artist's air brush, which is attached to a compressor with a tube that can be secured to the pole.
The air brush nozzle is attached a hydrophobic guard that runs along the ceiling at an angle (like a sturdy bristle oily brush or a strip of oil infused rubber) to protect the ceiling from water based wall paint. Experiment with different hydrophobic guards to insure the absence of wicking action that would mess a straight line.
One fill up of the air brush and a little stroll around the room with this devise will save hours of climbing up and down on a ladder. You work out the details.
There are advertised plastic tools for making straight lines. They look good and work fine, but these devises quickly fall apart and professional painters do not use them and you still have to climb ladders. This invention is really needed and will save tons of labor for painters. Painters don't charge by the hour, but by the job, so they will be happy for the time savings and will buy this devise like hotcakes if you advertise and reach them all. Hurry! Invent and patent this idea before it gets away. I will not draw it up or work out the details for you, so you can have it all. Just subscribe to my blog for money making ideas like this one.
